Carnelian Heart 15 mm Pendant
Carnelians are characteristic of their yellow, reddish or red-brown shades, influenced by hematite admixtures in their structure. Carnelian from Botswana is highly demanded for its striking, red-orange colour. Its deposits are in semi-deserts in eastern areas of the country. However, the export of raw minerals has been banned, and as the technological progress in Botswana has not advanced too much, their carnelians became a big rarity on the market.
If we look at its chemical structure, carnelian from Botswana is a variety of chalcedony, which is a general name for fibrous, cryptocrystalline quartz.
