Agate Red Tumbled
Red agate catches one’s eye with its red colour and striking banded lines. It is a mineral, which absorbs liquids quite well. Depending on the level of porosity, the liquid permeates through individual layers of the stone’s structure. The charming red colour of this agate is a result of iron oxides absorption followed by a fire treatment. The stone is from Brazil.
If we look at its chemical structure, red agate is a variety of chalcedony – a generic name for fibrous, cryptocrystalline quartz.
