Sodalite Fluorescent

Sodalite is a mineral from the feldspathoid group containing sodium and aluminum. It is typically light to dark blue, or blue-gray, often accompanied by white veins. In any case, it is not lacking in luster- vitreous to greasy. It usually occurs in combination with granite, in which case it is pure, blue sodalite with grains of grayish-white feldspar. Under UV light, we can observe orange and red fluorescence, which is caused by microscopic inclusions of sulfur anions that create a bright orange fluorescence. The stone occurs in certain types of igneous or metamorphic rocks in many locations worldwide. Among the most famous deposits are Namibia, Canada, and Brazil. Our stone originates from China.
