Green agates have been used for thousands of years as instruments and later in jewellery and crafts. These minerals with green, tiny little layers of microscopic quartz, chalcedony and opal that create beautiful banded lines are still highly demanded.

Agate uniqueness: The green colour is a result of chromium oxides’ absorption and fire treatment. The original technology of dyeing is usually replaced with cool-dye, resulting in a blue-green shade of agate, known as Teal. Agates with the original, lucid green colour are very rare and hard to get.

Special conditions/ treatment: There is no need for special handling with green agate. Please, do not immerse teal in salt solutions and do not expose it to direct sunlight as its colour fades.
