Green agates have been used for thousands of years as instruments and later in jewellery and crafts. These minerals with green, tiny little layers of microscopic quartz, chalcedony and opal that create beautiful banded lines are still highly demanded.

Agates are porous and have good ability to absorb liquids. During the dyeing process, the liquid soaks into individual layers of agate according to the level of their porosity. The green colour is a result of chromium oxides’ absorption and fire treatment. Agates with the original, lucid green colour are very rare.

Use: Agate slices are suitable for stained-glass production; they can be embedded in metal and wood or used as a decoration on their own.

About the product: These B quality slices are only available in bulk. The A quality slices are sold both individually and in a package for an advantageous price.
