Anthophyllite with Garnet Sphere Box
Anthophyllite is a mineral from the amphibole group with a high content of magnesium and iron. It has a brownish-gray to greenish-gray color and most commonly forms fibrous or columnar aggregates, sometimes with a golden luster.
Uniqueness of the stone: Anthophyllite can, on rare occasions, display iridescence — an optical phenomenon in which rainbow-like colors appear on the mineral's surface, shifting depending on the angle of incoming light. Garnet commonly occurs alongside anthophyllite in metamorphic rocks, particularly in amphibolites. Chemically, it is usually reddish-brown almandine with a high iron content. The combination of anthophyllite and garnet is bound to relatively few deposits worldwide, found in Scandinavia (Norway and Finland), in the Ural region of Russia, and in North Carolina, USA. This mineralogical association also occurs in the Czech Republic, specifically in the Jeseníky Mountains.
Use: Anthophyllite spheres are used for meditation and rituals, or alternatively serve as a beautiful interior decoration.
