Obsidian alias volcanic glass. Obsidians are formed uniquely – during a rapid, hot lava cooling, e.g. in water or on the Earth’s surface. The process is so fast that the individual minerals do not have enough time to crystalize. This piece is from Mexico.

Velvet Obsidian uniqueness: Velvet obsidian is a variety of rainbow obsidian. However, besides the rainbow shades, this variety has velvet tones, influenced by light scattering falling on the inclusions under the surface of the stone.

Special conditions/ treatment: Obsidian is stable against most acids. However, be careful when handling with the stone, as it is fragile.

About the product: The product is packed in firm plastic bags.
